I understand that the filthy rich feel guilty and all for being so well off (Clooney, Brangelina, etc.) But your giving africa false hope which is worse than doing nothing. They actually think thanks to all the charity and meaningless talk about helping that the USA or NATO ios going to come save them. We all know thats not going to happen and continually stringing them along is vile. the afriucans need to understand that we aren't coming and they are goin to have to organize and save themselves.

Description: The civil war was cruel to Mariatu. When armed men attacked her parents' farm, they singled her out for special attention. She begged, but it was no use. The 13-year old would rather have died, but they cut off her hands instead.

Mariatu now lives in a centre for people who were maimed in the war. She has her grandmother to help her with all her daily activities. But the young girl cannot sleep. She keeps replaying those scenes in her head. Mariatu longs to get married, but despairs of finding a man who wants a woman with no hands. More short films at ICRC's Women at War. (less)
