I had no preconceived notion about the classic, "Where the Wild Things Are".

When I went in the theater, the movie was just starting. I was with my two wild children ages 5 and 9, girl and boy.

The first scene that captivated me was of the main character, Max, becoming upset with his sister and her friends.

Then Max trying to gain the attention of his mother, by doing "the Robot", as she sat talking desperately on the phone, with a potential job source.

Next, he called his mother over and over to the fort he built, but she was too busy with her new boyfriend.

He does anything possible to gain her attention, to the point of causing a huge commotion and then, running away.

He falls into a dreamstate while out in the dark, and enters a world of fantastical characters that mirror his own psyche.

It is then that the viewer is encompassed into the world of a child's mind.

I stayed through the credits, crying, not only understanding and remembering a child's mindstate more clearly, but identifying with Max as he searches and finds answers to his questions of his own existence and the world around him.

Truly an A+ movie, depicting the classic children's story by Maurice Sendak, Where the Wild Things Are.
