The old saying is "Nice guys finish last with the ladies¿ I find this to be true, but on the other hand being an A$$hole does help your cause either. In the end honesty is the best policy. Be yourself, search for women who fit your personality, look for girls that have similar passions and hobbies.

Shy guy = a challenge. Girls always want what they can't have. If something comes too easy we get bored with it. That saying - 'Nice guys always finish last' - is true, but only because they never have the balls to ask us out!! Be a nice, shy guy, but be a man too!!!
