Wow Thanks for finding that its like the Birth of a Nation film (i.e. the film that jump started the Ku Klux Klan movement in the 1920's) for the Mormon church. Where do I start to refute the lies running through this? With its the intentional distortions gross exaggerations blatant lies running through this. Look if you want a bigoted narrow minded view of what Mormons believe this is the movie for you!!! For the rest of you go to www.Mormon.org

Well davemesaaz, of course www.mormon.org will not go in to the deeper theology of what mormons truly believe. In advertising this is what is known as bait and switch. I can only assume that if you have not been taught any of these mormon beliefs you have simply not been indoctrinated deep enough into the church. They are not going to teach this to new converts because it would scare them away. Why don't you check this site out http://www.exmormon.org/ you'll also learn about magic undergarments. Say what you want davemesaaz I am sorry you have been deceived. The Bible is true. the book of mormon is the devils craftwork... If you truly seek the truth you will find it!

It's actually not too bad (i.e., fairly accurate with regards to Mormon doctrine). There are a few statements in the movie which I think some LDS would challenge. For example, where in LDS doctrine/teachings does it say

    - that the neutral spirit children were designated to be born as black people?

    - that Jesus was married and fathered a number of children before he was crucified?

I am guessing that these might have been teachings or sayings of Brigham Young at some point, but if so, I don't know the references. I'm also pretty sure that faithful LDS -- even knowledgable ones -- would challenge the statement that the earth was populated by Elohim and one of his wives. I am pretty sure that BY said this, but the church has privately been saying for quite a while that a lot of what BY said was crap. (This causes more problems than it solves, IMO, but that is a different issue...).

The only really egregious error/mis-statement of the film that I heard was the statement (purported to be by Joseph Smith) that he "claimed that he had done more for us than any other man, including Jesus Christ". Actually, the statement is that Joseph Smith did more for the salvation of men in this world than anyone else *except* Jesus Christ, and the statement was made by John Taylor, not Joseph Smith. (D&C 135).

From a knowledgable and not particularly bitter ex-Mormon.

This was not published by a Christian group but by an organization that was built to present an anti-Mormon Theology named Ex Mormons for Jesus who's founder Ed Decker is notorious for his hatred and money making off of poor Christians that didn't know better. If you want to get the real picture of what Mormons believe go to a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints or Mormon to find out or at least go to http://www.mormon.org/ an official website of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints or http://www.lds.org the official website of the Church.

As a former LDS, I must say, that the large percent of other LDS do not know some of the more controversial doctrines. They are not actively taught, and you must really dig to find many of them. But, with a few very minor exceptions, this movie is based on fact (the minor exceptions are conjecture, though not far-fetched.) It's just the manner it is presented, and the heaviness of seeing it all together that may seem shocking and sensational to LDS folks. What others have to understand though, is that being and LDS is much more than attending a church, it's a complete social system, and hence the passionate responses demonstrated here by those still in the church's grip.

LDS is based on lies, deception and satan himself.

where are these "golden tablets"? no where to be found.

The "Holy Bible" states let no man add or subtract for the word.

I love this site! I have a theory, and it is just that, a theory: I respect all religions; I do believe that there may be some truth to all of them. However, I find that in any organized religion there is deception and that the followers are hiding behind their religion because they do not know how to justify it and that in some way their human instincts know that if they weren't there to witness these events they don't really know. One might argue that it's a matter of faith. I have faith that we won't really know until the time is right, (death possibly) isn't faith a journey? Every day I have what could be called a "light bulb" moment. I guess what I'm trying to say is that if one finds a way of life that they can live with, than that is something truly amazing, but why is it that one would feel the need to convert others? I find that many people just in general feel the need to convert others into their way of thinking. I'm not just talking about religion here, this happens in everyday life as well. Isn't it more interesting to learn things from others and make your own opinion and understanding of life? Another thing I have learned is that one never stops learning, when you stop learning you die. Don't all these things keep us going? Life is meant for living; some people realize this and live their life as if it were their last day, not knowing what could happen tomorrow. Telling the friends and family in ones life that they matter. Others can work their whole life and save their money for something they never end up enjoying. When it comes to the end of the day, you have to be alone in your own mind and you will know if you've lived your life in a positive manner or if you have lived it negatively. I believe in a higher power what ever it may be; I pray almost everyday but I'm sure of one thing... (And to quote Bono on this) "The god I believe in isn't short of cash." What I believe in doesn't require me to try and convert others into thinkin

Well, well, well... as another ex- and not particularly bitter LDS (uh... Mormon is an ascended human that Joe knew of and not what members of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints are supposed to call themselves as it might lead the uninformed to think that they look to Mormon and not the Holy Spirit) who used to teach a priesthood class somewhere in Arizona, this little ditty is pernious propaganda of the worst sort. Less than 10% true and 110% bullsh*t, it has just enough reference to CJCLDS doctrine to remind someone who doesn't know jack of something they might have heard once. If you are interested in the doctrine I would suggest that you read the Doctrine and Covenents book and/or flag down the next Mission Team that you see as I am sure that they would be happy to sit down and answer any questions. But even before that; some people need to grow up, realize that they can't re-make the whole world according to their personal bias, and start appreciating diversity instead of condeming it. And, by the way, that goes double for anyone who considers themself a latter-day saint,

Oh, yeah... there was something else mentioned in the comments that deserves comment. The Black/evil thing... what an embarrassment... even more so, I think, than the Mountain Meadow Incident. So there is a story in the Book of Mormon about people in the Americas that were so naughty that they started hunting and eating other people and their skin turn dark because of this. Okay... this may be a medical condition of liver-spot or age-spot accumulation due to recycled toxins and meat eating in general. But as this book is supposed to be a chronicle of the fate of the colonies of the exiled followers of Amen-Ra from Egypt (Amen-Ra, not just another sun god but the light of the sun itself) the story could not in any way seriously be considered to be an explanation for the origins of the races of Man. Clearly the position on this was an desperate and totally irrational justification of some patriarch who grew up in a society that practiced slavery and was hopelessly looking for some sort of quasi-biblical get-out-of-jail-free-card and excuse for their cultural racism. I mean... really... it just doesn't make any sense, does it?

It's like the Crutch, sorry... Church insisting on conformity with the Law of Moses which includes "Thou shall not kill" and at the same time supporting military service. But irrational and self-serving contradictions are not exclusive to that organization only.

I think most of us already knew that as far as religions go, LDS is pretty whacked. However, those of you mainstream christians out there who would applaud this and other LDS detractions, fair or otherwise, should take a step back and look at your own myth. Really, a virgin birth? Walking on water? Coming back to life after death? Then there's the old testament which is even more laughable; the ark, the sun stopping in the sky for a day, a sea being parted, etc. etc.

    Think for yourselves.

LET ME SAY, AS A MORMON; that this video is ridiculous and not reflective of Mormon doctrine. The way this stuff always works is they start out rather neutral, saying half-lies that sound benign, and then halfway through the video (once those who know nothing about Mormonism believe them), start saying whole-lies of ridiculous proportions. Just keep that in mind as you watch this kind of stuff--this video is just well-funded hate speech. If you abhor ethnic discrimination in any form, don't ever forward, digg, or rank these kinds of videos.

Thanks to this video post, so many people have come to me asking about the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints! I laughed so hard at the incredible lies this video purported, and would be humoured greatly if true Latter Day Saints would be offended, as NONE of it is remotely true. This is obviously an EX MORMON, who by the way usually become 'ex'. because they want to blame the Lord's Church for their failure to keep the commandements, all of which are based on common sense in the first place. I started as an anti-mormon, almost 11 years ago when the missionaries brought the Book of Mormon to me. I ridiculed them with my sharp tongue, and carried on for a futher 6 years. Of course, I was simply believing all that the ENEMIES of the Church were telling me! I prided myself and my associates on our 'immense' theological knowledge, and my 'christian' values. However, all that I believed was 100% wrong. One does NOT go to Judas or the Pharisees to find out truth about Jesus, and thus why would anyone go to these liars to find out this biased and completely false perception of the Lord's Church?! THAT is not based on any common sense! I would prefer to ask Jesus' disciples about who He is/was, and it makes sense to ask a practicing Latter Day Saint the truth about the Lord's Church. Funny thing is that so many evangelicals try so hard, spending so many resources against the Church of Jesus Christ, that people are starting to wonder if THEY are simply functioning as cults, ANTI-MORMON cults, hellbent on proving the Lord's Church wrong! While they are doing these dumb and useless videos etc, the Church is doing the Lord's work in peace, and without making anti material about other churches! Go figure! I am SURE these are the same people that if they existed in Jesus' time, would have been at the front row screaming at the top of their lung 'crucify him! crucify him!'

11 years later, I am humbled to know I had a choice to read the Book of Mormon, the ancient central-american companion to the middle eastern Bible for myself and to pray and ask God for the answer...and I got my answer. I do not worship Joseph Smith and neither does any other LDS. Its Jesus' name on His church, and only Him do I worship with all my heart. I served as a missionary for the Church and am very deeply humbled once again, that I made my choice to find out for myself with true intent, for the Lord changed my life 360 degrees, and the Book of Mormon still bring the strongest emotion of any book I have ever read, along with the precious and sacred Bible.

People are not stupid, and will not make their choices based on other people's hate and bigotry, as the early christians also didnt, when persecuted by those around them. Thus, the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints is true, restored to the earth, and I am so grateful to be loved by such a loving, kind Heavenly Father in these last days!

    From Mormon.org

"A volume of scripture included in the standard works of the Church. The Book of Mormon: Another Testament of Jesus Christ is a collection of writings and teachings of the ancient prophets and followers of Jesus Christ who lived in the Americas from approximately 590 B.C. to 421 A.D. The Prophet Joseph Smith translated the Book of Mormon by divine inspiration from gold plates that he received from the angel Moroni. Books in the Book of Mormon are named after the prophets who kept the records, such as Nephi, Mosiah, Alma, and Mormon. A reference from the Book of Mormon may look like this: Alma 37:35-37."

"Brigham Young was called by God as the next prophet after Joseph Smith. Just as Brigham Young was called of God to succeed Joseph Smith, so this pattern of succession of prophets, as directed by Jesus Christ, continues today. The current prophet and President of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints is Gordon B. Hinckley. He is assisted by two counselors?: Thomas S. Monson and James E. Faust. Together, they make up the First Presidency? of the Church (much like Peter, James, and John in Christ's time)."

"Because the Church was no longer led by priesthood authority and revelation, error crept into Church teachings. Good people and much truth remained, but the gospel? as established by Jesus Christ was lost, resulting in a period called the Great Apostasy"

    "Apostasy

    1. A condition of spiritual withdrawal from our Father in Heaven.

    2. A period of time when the priesthood and the gospel of Jesus Christ in its fulness were not on the earth."

the book of Revelations says [rev 22:18-19] "18 I warn everyone who hears the words of the prophecy of this scroll: If any one of you adds anything to them, God will add to you the plagues described in this scroll. 19 And if any one of you takes words away from this scroll of prophecy, God will take away from you your share in the tree of life and in the Holy City, which are described in this scroll. " What that is saying is is the bible is it! There is no other prophets after John. I leave my fight there because even the pope(as weird as catholics are) would stand behind me.

If God is perfect, why would God need to create Satan and eternal damnation? Who are we to consider him petty as we are?

to j_sandaker, everyone who truly studies the Bible knows that when John wrote revelations, there was no bible as we know it! The words were to not add to the book of revelations itself. common sense. The Lord said almost exactly the same thing to moses in deutronomy 4:2, yet john and matthew mark luke and the other apostles would all be condemned by you, using the same lack of logic. In fact, it is common logic that Revelations was written BEFORE some other books in the Bible ('bible' which actually means 'collection of books' from the word 'biblia).

The Bible is sacred, and we respected it immensely, when translated correctly (there are so many translations that obviously the watered down versions cant be all that right).

Study the Bible before you make deductions..

The Bible existed in greek and hebrew, even german, before it was translated into english and obviously they are all a bit different. The Book of Mormon never has contridicted the Bilbe, they compliment each other.

Have a look at one of the best Latter Day Saints I have come across, therein you'll find intelligent answers.

I watched this movie when I noticed it while I was watching clips of the Daily Show on iFilm. I thought it was hilarious. But then I noticed some people were commenting on it like it was some revelation to them that the ¿Mormons¿ have this secret belief system.

Now, I was raised Latter Day Saint (LDS), that's what the ¿Mormons¿ call themselves, and decided it wasn't for me. I would have figured that in the time of 4 years of LDS seminary and 2 years of Doctrine class with my parents, I would have heard something about these ¿Mormon Gods.¿

Now take this video and replace ¿Mormon¿ with any other sect of Christianity; Baptist, Lutheran, Methodist, Catholic, and replace Joseph Smith with the concurrent founder, and this video will be as accurately applied to their belief system. If you want to find out about a religion, ask the people who believe it. I promise, if their system has some magical revelation that sounds as ridiculous as this clip, they will be the first to tell you about it. Then we can all mock them without being ignorant liars.

@CousinTim - The film begins "Mormonism teaches." Obviously, Mormonism does not teach this since most members know nothing of these doctrines. I am no longer in the church and have minimal contact with LDS members, so I am not "still in the church's grip."

I've been a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints for many years. My parents are atheist, I group up without religion (before anyone asks).

This video is wrong on a few levels. Here are just some of the points:

    - The idea of those being neutral and their destiny does not come from my church. Sounds like its completely fabricated.
    - Nobody has ever claimed Christ had 3 wives (although most of the prophets in the Old Testament clearly had more than one wife)
    - Joseph Smith was not known to be a "treasure seeker". This is likely a perversion of scripture which says to seek a treasure in heaven (it doesn't mean money).
    - Coca-Cola isn't banned, as per the video. We are recommended to not drink it overly much. See non-mormon studies on soft drinks (http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/5807399/, http://www.ctv.ca/servlet/ArticleNews/story/CTVNews/20070723/pop_study_070723/20070723?hub=CTVNewsAt11, etc). A more recent study shows that more than one soft drink per day can have serious repercussions. I think cnn.com covered the story.
    - Nobody stands for judgement before Joseph Smith, the church simply does not believe this.
    - The video says that Joseph Smith claimed he did more for humanity than even Christ. This is not correct. Joseph explicitly said that Christ did more.

These are other points which are very blatantly incorrect.

This is just one more anti-Mormon, anti-Christian group.

Having an original 1830 edition of the Book of Mormon----many important verses have been changed over the years---this film is 100% accurate----however, a look at an ORIGINAL Pearl of Great Price---not the present day version----it was Nephi, not Moroni, who appeared to Joseph Smith and led him to the Golden Plates----hard to believe for the present-day Latter Day Saint, but can be checked out nonetheless.

    We absolutely do not believe:

-In a "Mormon Jesus". The Jesus that we DO believe in is the Savior of the world. He suffered and died for my sins and was resurrection, allowing all who believe on His name and follow Him to return to live with God.

-This was pretty funny, but we don't believe in all that celestial sex stuff... that sounds pretty funny though :)

    -That Jesus married three women!

    -In all that dark-skinned crap!

-Joseph Smith wasn't a treasure seeker, or a known story teller. And do NOT believe that he did more than Christ for our salvation!

-Neither Joseph Smith nor the 'Mormon' Church beleive that other Christian sects are an abomination in the sight of God.

-We're not judged be Joseph Smith.

-We don't become polygomist gods when we get sealed in the temple.

-Joseph Smith murder didn't do anything to help save us!

-There were a lot more in there I missed as I was typing.

Wow! That WAS pretty funny! The thing to remember here is that this film was made by another organization, not the LDS church. If you want to know about someone's beliefs, why not as a member of that church? (e.g. why would I go to my Muslim friend to ask what my other Catholic friend believes?). As was mentioned before, go to LDS.org or Mormon.org to find out what is really taught and practice in the church.

There were actually a couple of almost-truths in the film:

-We do believe that we are heirs to our Heavenly Father's throne. That, as our father, He wants to give us all that he has. It's in your Bible... read it.

    - We do believe that Jesus and Lucifer are brothers, just as we are all children of God. Lucifer did present a plan that was rejected and was cast out of the presents of God along with 1/3 of the host of Heaven.

-We do belive that Jesus Christ visited the other people (other sheep(John 10:16)) in the americans after His resurrection. And that the Lamanites are a branch of Isreal and that native americans are their desendants.

-Joseph Smith was lead to the golden plates and translated them into what is now the Book of Mormon... You should read it. It's actually a pretty good read, even if you don't believe it to be that word of God.

-We do believe in work for the dead (1 Cor. 15: 29).

-When we're sealed in the temple we are married for eternity, but not as 'polygamist gods'.

I'm sure I missed a bunch of the lies that were told in this video. I was trying to type this as I was listening.

Bottom line is to not take this video as truth. As an LDS (Mormon) friend about what they believe, or go to the church sponsored web sites.

I like the part when the neephites are getting killed by the native americans. That rivals 300 for awesomeness.

And I want endless celestial sex!
