For all that i know is that the 500 is comecially available and that most of the others r custom built.

topgun, check your facts: SEALS used to swim with .357 wheel guns. The HK MK23 was never adopted as their sidearm of choice. Timc824: the s&w500 round is more powerful than anything on this list, according to magnum research:

Everyone claiming it's not the biggest needs to listen to the "COMMERCIALLY AVAILABLE" part of what the cop said. It is the most powerful stock handgun in the world. The .600 is a CUSTOM HAND MADE pistol which does not fit into the factory produced claim the cop makes. Plus it is currently running 13,840 euros/19,376 dollars.

the s&w 500 is not at all the biggest handgun. the magnum research BFR 450 or 45/70 can produce much higher ft/lbs of energy where do you people get you data from? the BFR (biggest,finest,revolver) the nice terms

look the biggest handgun i have seen was a freedom firearms 30-06 yes a regular springfield 30-06 rifle round into a handgun its a revolver too

Tactical Weapons Expert Chris Mitchell stated that the .357 Super Magnun was used by Navy SEALs. This is not true. The Navy SEALs use either the HK MK23 or the M11 Sig Sauer P228. Other SpecialOps units might use the Super Magnum but not the Navy SEALs.
