Say, the "Masks" episode sounds familiar. He "breaks these people down and exposes them for what they are". Kind of like in "The Dark Knight". Even the masks themselves remind me of the ones worn by the bank robbers at the beginning of the film. Could "The Dark Knight" be paying homage to that episode?

But with that said, thanks again for showing me what I'm missing, James. I was planning to see "The Twilight Zone" anyway, but now that I've seen this countdown... just, WOW! I'm really missing out!

    In a word-- F-yeah.

I -KNEW- you would appreciate the twilight zone. I only discovered the awesomeness of this show last year, while catching it back to back every sunday morning at my shitty night job. The subtle genius of Rod Serling is completely unparalleled, and his show just oozes brilliant and thoughtful quality.

I agree with your number one. The captured bittersweet nostalgia in that episode is flawless..

Surprised I didn't see "The Shelter," or "The Chaser" on this list..

I was waiting for you to get to this. Funny thing is that everyone always can pick just a lot of different episodes that are their favorites and most of the time there's always one that everyone agrees on. It was really beyond it's time and probably still ahead of the times now.

I would argue, but it would be pointless since I have watched very few. They are the most memorable and rehashed ones for comedy like the one where the guy is all alone on the planet, the gremlin on the roof, the man with a watch that can stop time, but I did see that one with the TV that shows the future.

"Death Head's revisited" has to be the best episode ever created. Not only is it a unique and original episode, but it dealt with a subject that was simply not discussed at that time...the holocaust. It won several awards and helped begin the examination of the Nazi death camps of World War II. Additionally; it was considered one of Ron Sterling's favorites as well, the man himself. I'm an historian, so perhaps I am a bit biased...but "Death Head's Revisited" was one episode that truly and fundamentally influenced American opinion and views of the holocaust. This should, easily, make it into your top 10.

Walking Distance... Yeah. That was a really touching episode, it's always nice to see someone overcoming a personal hurdle like that... I think that episode as my #1 is tied with the one where Death is after an old lady in a building to be demolished. That one... It's just so nice to see her finally accept her fate and to let go of her pain. I also really loved the feeling of the Twilight Zone Movie, the one with the old folks home and how it ended. Much better than the original IMO. Great Top 10 James. Loved it.

Brilliant, James! Always inspiring, now I must watch them all over again. And Rod Serling was so very ahead of his time. That's why this show still resonates today, even with the limited special effects. It has avoided the stigma that many old shows and movies receive, that of, "I don't like to watch old movies. They're too stuffy and boring." Oh, yah? Rod Serling will make your skin crawl right off your body, then pimp slap you with a philisophical metaphor that will make you question your own existence, bee-atch!

Cool, never have I seen a black and white Twilight Zone eps. and youre right those eps are ahead of their time. I dont know if its from the BnW TZ but I remember this eps of the end of the world and this guy who survives just wants to read be in peace and quiet, and in the end he gets what he wants there is no one around and when hes about to read his glasses break and it ends lol, great eps with karma just slapping him in the face!.

My favorite episode has to be "Dead Man Shoes".The acting is top-notch,and the story is as fresh as it was 40 years ago when it first aired.

James, great video. I love the Twilight Zone and always look forward to the holidays where they show marathons on TV. I am very impressed with how you managed to explain the plot of each episode with such intricacy without spoiling the ending. I would have loved a shout out to Ray Bradbury, one of my favorite authors, who wrote several episodes of the Twilight Zone (which, combined with Sterling, explains its consistent quality).

Spike, well done on featuring Cinemassacre on your site. Next up: gives James a show on TV. It would be a decision you would not regret. As for me, I would have picked "To Serve Man" (ironically the only one you gave away the ending to) as #1 because it haunted me as a child. Keep it up, James and Spike!

Is it just me, or does SciFi have a Twilight Zone marathon for any holiday that constitutes eating of drinking? 4th of July/ New Years/ Memorial day, I find myself glued to the sofa, transfixed in the series.

Great video. I love the Twilight Zone! I watched "The Dummy" when I was a kid and it messed me up for life. It was horrifying! My favorite is "It's a Good Life." I also like "To Serve Man" and "Nightmare as a Child." Thanks for the review!

I love "Walking Distance." Serling flirted with that idea of revisiting a simpler time in "A Stop at Willoughby" as well. Thanks for turning on some of the younger generation to the greatest television series in history.

Great job, wish it could have been a top 20...

"The Monsters Are Due on Main Street"
    "A Penny For Your Thoughts"
"Will the Real Martian Please Stand Up?"
"The Obsolete Man" - With Burgess of course, the ending was great.

    Rod Sterling was a genius!

Good stuff though, anyone's top 10 would be up on my top 20-25 i'm sure!

Burgess Meredith as the Devil? Again?
He was the Devil in Torture Garden, he was the Devil in The Sentinel.
    It's kinda creepy.

The second video reminds me of Oh God, You Devil with George Burns. I have a feeling they got the idea for the movie from that episode.
