I was really hoping to see Shoot 'em Up on the list, I was expecting it to pop up all down to 1 but I was dissapointed. Still a good list though, some movies which I haven't seen yet and some that I remember only for the cheer violence.
Thumbs up.

i agree that Die Hard might have been an omission, and total recall came to mind also. that new rambo is brutal...have not seen it yet, but the clip james showed is gruesome. its a good list and could have been a top 20 simply because we have such a huge pool of shooting movies to choose from,.

I thought the scene in Face Off was good, but I see you paid homage to John Woo for another. Also the lobby scene in the Matrix is a fave of mine.

i agree with this list almost completly, my fav action movie of all time is hard boiled but robocop if he knew (cuzz i dont think he knew) does have a rated x version out there and could possibly be alittle higher with that version, the x-rated robocop is the criterion collection version of robocop and it was my first ever bought dvd

Nice, well thought out list. I personally would have liked to have seen Way Of The Gun on the list, I think it's an awesome modern interpretation of a western.

Fuck. You started it up right. Not a very nice guy. God damn I guess. Robocop was one of the best shoot em ups I can recall. Desperado. Hell yes. Rambo 4 was fucking insane. I learned not to fuck with Rambo when he ripped that guys throat out! But damn. He topped that in that scene. Scarface at #1. Damn. Yeah it was pretty amazing. I guess it's just be who found the first shootout scene in Total Recall as priceless. Arnold using a guy as a meat shield and the escalator dumping bodies at the top. Damn. Great Top 10. Brought back some good memories.

Desperado... The anime of Trigun has a character, Wolfwood, that is referenced heavily on the guitar case weapons it seems. Fan-freaking-tastic!
Wow, there are alot of movies on here that I need to rent or own. So many fave aspects of the shoot 'em up movie are here. Thanks muchly!

Really enjoyed the list, and got psyched when seeing ¿Aliens¿ as intro ¿ a really badass movie. A personal favorite on your list is Robocop. Being a child of the 80¿s Robocop really stands out as THE action movie of my childhood. It¿s also the first movie I remember as being heavily censored (in Sweden) and when I saw the uncut version (early 90¿s) it felt like a brand new movie ¿ because almost every scene with blood was cut from the first version.
After watching the initial part of the list there was one movie I wanted on the list, more than any other. That movie was Death wish 3, and yeah it made the list! Not allot of people recognize the old titan: Charles Bronson. Would really enjoy a review, or list, of his movies ¿ especially ¿Mr.Majestyk¿ and ¿Breakheart Pass¿.
