it's gonna be hard to top the first two. my favorite so far has to be "RETURNS" becuase of the great acting by danny devito and phiefer. plus director tim burton absolutely nails the darkness of what is originally batman. cant wait to see JOKER.

No disrespect Matronix-- couldn't disagree more. The Burton films took the whole Batman universe and basically turned it into Cirque de Soleil. These Bale flicks bring it back to Batman as silent ninja.

i have to agree with ifilmK, the burton films made batman into a joke. batman begins relates more to the original concept of batman, which was a dark lonely mysterious character. its good that they have started with a clean slate.

ifilmK and petetheguy, you both are idiots - JOEL SCHUMACHER ruined the Batman franchise! He's the one that made it into a colorful joke! Tim Burton's Batmans were dark, haunting, and perfect. Schumacher's Batmans were a purple, red, and blue mess! Get your facts straight!

themaker111 is right. Burton's films were dark, brooding and moody much like Nolan's. It was Joel Schumacher who brought in Kilmer, Clooney, the Ahnold and crime of crimes, O'Donnell as Robin. Turning the whole thing into a circus.

Not that I want to get into some kind of internet war, but can anyone really call Batman Returns NOT circusy? I'll give as much as the first Burton Batman was pretty dark, and that Schumacher did ruin everything by making the movies look like a dark ride at Disneyland, but Returns was only slightly less offensive in that respect. Plus, this new series shouldn't even be compared, since even Burton's first Batman was very much a comic book, and the new ones are much more serious.

Maybe it's a comic book nerd thing, but I think that this promo actually has a lot in it! To me, it's a big deal to finally hear Heath Ledger's vocal take on the Joker. And I must say, I like it! I'll freely admit to scoffing when it was announced he would be playing maybe the most demented and twisted villain in the history of comics, but the voice coupled with the promo photo of him, I'm sold.

Definitely not a great teaser, but it does create a sense of suspense -- because of thee crumbling Batman symbol, you get the idea Batman is going to get worked pretty bad here (or perhaps the Batman franchise is crumbling?).
