    I have listened to this teacher explain his use of the word Nigger and he does Not sound like a Racist. Many words should never be used by teachers, especially English teachers because their there to teach children How to Speak properly. His Suspension is Over. What does this kid expect; the Board to Flog his teacher. He should not have been hanging out in the Halls. He does Not appear to be an Honor roll student.

    So let me get this straight, you should lose your job for using a word, then every time a black kid called me cracker or honky when I was in high school, they should have been expelled. For the love of god, it's a WORD, there is nothing wrong with WORDS. It is rediculous to ban WORDS, don't say nigger, don't say cracker or honky, they are just WORDS. Besides, it's an american right to use any WORD you want, it's called freedom of speech, and if you don't like it, TS. Look, I may not like it when people say things I don't like, but I am a firm beliver in thier right to say it. I'll say it, I hate Spike Lee's movies. I hate the way White people are displayed in his movies, HOWEVER, I would never call for a ban of his movies, It is his right to say what he wants. I do not think Don Imus should have been fired for what he said, it is his right. I do not like when Al Sharpton and Jessie Jackson go on racist rants about the United State of Jewmerica, as they so put it, but it is there right. And the funny thing is, those two are big supporters freedom of speech, and thats thier defense when people say stuff they don't like, but OH NO, don't say anything about black people, then they get mad, I believe there is an old saying, Practice what you Preach. Freedo of speech people, get used to it.

    A lot of things are considered "socially unacceptable" here in the United States including what you say. A teacher has to be aware that what he or she says has consequences because teachers are employed in a very socially significant line of work...it's just common sense.



    Does he have the right to whistle at a female teacher who happens to be wearing a skirt that fits her well? Sure. Will there be consequences? You bet there will, because that behavior is inappropriate in our society. That female teacher may not be offended if the fellow teacher whistling at her was another female teacher...she may interpret that as "joking between the girls."



    It is just as "socially unacceptable" for a white guy to say "nigga." If you don't want to pay a price for socially unacceptable behavior, then keep your mouth shut. Society has rules, and we live in a society.



    Do I agree with all of society's unwritten rules? No. Do I have to abide by them if I want to avoid offending people? Yes.
