    Just say no to cauterization!

    I personaly attest that potatoe (interior sterile slices are best) applied directly to the wound stops bleeding when direct pressure alone will not. (an aspirin a day keeps the heart attack away, but it makes ya bleed like a stuck pig).

    It sure beats the hell out of an emergency room visit (and bill) for only a few stiches and some gauze.

    The high starch content in potatoes is the secret. Sugar will also work, but does not provide any structural support to the wound. If diabetes is a concern, well.. just how bad are ya hurt?
