there should be assault charges filed against the florida police, as well as unlawful detainment, and not to mention the most flagrant abuse of civil liberties garuanteed by the condtitution.

the more i learn about police tactics and the desperate power hungry individuals who make up this clandestine group. the more i think that it is a good when bad things happen to cops. i wont get into for obvious reasons but lets say i share no empathy with these pack of losers. they say its a tough job but no one is forcing them to do it, does this excuse poor behavior or give the right to usurp the rights of public? it definitely doesnt and if you dont like the pressures of your job and it causes you to act out inappropriately or affect your performance, then quit. i'd like to end this by saying that the majority of cops are undereducated over glorified hall monitors, that are without a doubt p***y's in every sense of the word hiding behind there hall monitor badge. yeah im talking to you b*tch.

This is so wrong. I'm not an American and hope not to offend anyone. But when did the USA stop being the Land of the Free? Where is the Freedom of Speech?

America invades countries that have dictatorships to bring to those "ailing" nations Democracy, but America doesn't use it any more!!.

America is no longer Home of the Free (as stated in the anthem). How can you call it that? You get finger printed and have your photo taken every time you arrive at an Airport (international flights).

You have to almost undress when you pass through the security check points....I understand the whole deal with the terrorists and 9/11, as a foreigner I have to deal with that.

But you guys as American citizens, why do you let these kinds of thing happen? when I go travelling I try to book flights that avoid landing on the US (hard and difficult task), because I don't care much for being ID and interrogated every time I land; specially when I'm just doing a Stop in the USA and it's not my final point of destination, I get interrogated to the point of harassment, having to show ID's, my passport..etc.

This is why there is so much anti-Americanism. But you know, there are tens of millions (more actually) of excellent citizens in the USA, and your country is capable of more good than evil, you guys have to stop taking this crap and bring back the Freedom of Speech (the uncensored version), so each American can sign with pride the Anthem and on the part of: "Home of the Free" you can sign it with knowledge that it is true and not just words that are part of a forgotten song.

Sorry for ranting, but I got really pissed when I saw what happened to this kid¿and I¿m a damn foreigner!

    That is my opinion.

    Sick Fascist S.O.B.'s . . .
    Welcome to the Police State!
Do you still think you have any Constitutional Rights?
The beltway is insane and has commenced waging war on the Citizens of this country, just as they did in the 1960's.
    Any Questions?

I live in Florida, but was not there. I didn't even know that this happened.

Why the f*ck did everyone just sit there?! Everyone should have jumped to this kid aid! I am ashamed to see the police act like this and I am more ASHAMED and angered that fellow Floridians DID NOTHING to stop this!

If you people do not stop this type of Police State actions and allow our Constitutional Rights to be taken away, then you people deserve what you will get! I for one WILL NOT stand for this and I hope that there are enough Americans who are willing to fight to keep our Constitutional Rights entact and to remember what we learned from History.

It is scary for some people to face, but the alternative is what we just saw in this video . We should NOT be afraid to exercise our Right to Free Speech. Remember it is OUR God Given Right protected by OUR Constitution.

It¿s a damn shame! Americas are taught individualism; it is so drilled in their minds that even when injustice is upon someone right in their face, they do nothing about it! Why, fear that they might be next. If people understood the word unity, none of this sh*t would ever go down. They¿d rather sell their freedom for security. FOOLS! It seems like empathy has vanished. I am more pissed at these bastards just sitting their watching like it¿s some fictitious sh*t on T.V. They have been so desensitized by television that they¿ve forgotten what reality is. Look at these bastards just sitting there. I bet the police would¿ve remembered who they were working for has these silly fuc*ers all stood up. I can¿t stand spineless and selfish people. They never thought to place themselves in that kids position. There¿s nothing that pisses me like injustice. This is the reason why the world is the way it is today ¿ no one stands for sh*t. Work, home, bills ¿ the cycle of bullsh*t that stands for nothing.

I guess the first questions you need to ask are, "Was this guy breaking any laws, or was he a danger to anyone?" The only way the cops could lawfully put their hands on him, taser him, and take him into custody is if he was breaking the law. If the answers to those questions are, "no," then this guy has a big paycheck coming when the ACLU lawyers get a hold of it. He could sue for assault, being denied his constitutional right to free speech, and unlawful detainment/arrest.

America - land of the free.

People like PRAETORIAN1976 are so scared of ending up on the wrong side of the law that they're scared to say anything against it for fear of ending up taking a beating from it and looking like a loser rather than a 'winner' in the eyes of all the other cowards letting the US slide into fascism.

Kerry could have stopped this ridiculous use of excessive force with a few words but was obviously more comfortable once the guy was unable to speak...or move.

Hope you get tasered by the obscenity police in 5 years and wonder where your right to call people 'fucktard' went, you fucktard.

Praetorian, you sir, are what they term a class "A" asshole. First of all... pot has NOTHING to do with this example. So that falls flat. There have been many cases in this country alone where breaking the law was the RIGHT thing to do. Slavery or Segregation anyone? I guess according to you all of those people marching for civil rights were breaking the law and deserved to get beaten and have dogs and fire hoses turned on them? Hell they were breaking the law, so fuck em, right? Those students that got shot by the national gaurd at Kent state? They were excercising their constitutional RIGHT to peacably assemble, but some of them payed the ulitmate price. Apparently though, in your eyes, they were just dirty hippies who got what they deserved, right? There are many, MANY fine, upstanding people who are police officers, and who want to help others. But there are many others who are nothing but bullies with a badge, who feel that might makes right in any situation, and that they can do whatever they want. This student did nothing to those officers.... and the ONLY person who should have decided that the conversation was over was Sen. Kerry himself. It was a dialogue between those two parties, and the police had no right to take it upon themselves to remove him. Even Kerry said he would answer the question posed to him, as it was an important one. I am saddened by the fact Kerry didn't tell them to get their hands off of him right then. He should have manned up and told those police to stand down. And Praetorian, the people cheered because he was getting taken away for asking pointed questions... not because they thought he was a whack job.

Hey Bitchclown, I voice My RIGHTS AND I KNOW ALL of my RIGHTS! I am not scared to stand up in what I believe in and what I know to be right and just. I've had to fight in the past for them and seen friends die to defend them and what this waste of space did was wrong. You have the right of free speech "right now" cause me and others like me put on a uniform and earned them!. What about you??? It's dumbshits like you that think oohhhh I have to be a outlaw or ohh i dont have to listen to anyone. Thats ok and fine with me cause in defending my rights I also defended yours to be a total jackass but when you get your dick slaped dont cry about it. Any one who knows the Constitution knows that free speech only gose so far and has been that way for a very long time! A example of that is you cant yell fire in public places where there is no fire at all. Thats not protected speech. Why cause monkeys like you think its ok and its cool. Once again fucktard know the law!!! If you dont like it "change it"! This morons rights were not violated he was asked to leave. He did not. He Disturbed the peace by causing a scene and the cops had all the rights in the world to arrest him. Oh by the way I have been tasered before and that pussy still crys like a bitch.

If you act like an ass you get treated that way. Everybody cries about freedom of speech, but this clown acted like his freedom to be and ass was more important than anyone else's right to speak. There were other there waited to ask questions, while he chose to hijack the process by acting like a total fool.

First off, before know the law before you complain about it. The constitution allows freedom of speech as everyone knows, however it does not allow the freedom of speech when it applies to vulgarities or obscenities. Although some may not consider "blowjob" to be offensive, Im sure that at least one person in the crowd was offended and that is against the law. You can see in the video that the officers look over to someone off camera, probably either a supervisor or one of Kerry's people. A few seconds later you can see a man in a suit come over behind the officers and say something to the officers, again either a supervisor or one of Kerry's people. The officers then attempt to escort the subject out of the auditorium and the subject flips out. At that point the subject becomes a bigger problem and starts to try to incite a riot by yelling to the crowd to help him. If he would have just walked out with the cops, there would have been no problem and he more than likely would have been allowed to leave with no problem. The taser was deployed after numerous attempts to get the subject under control. They did not shoot the subject with the taser more than likely because he was laying on the ground, and the probes would not have spread properly, which means it was a contact taze only. This is a pain compliance only tactic, and is a lot less painful then any type of other control tactics, such as knee strikes or pepper spray. And to those who talk alot of crap about officers, next time you are in an accident, or you house gets broken into, or your spouse, sister, mother or daughter gets raped, do your own investigating and dont call the police. Its amazing how you can talk crap about something until you need them.

Mr. Frausty, you are a f*cking idiot. These weren't even cops, they were security guards for crying out loud! For you to say that about police officers is ridiculous.

Are there cops in the U.S. who abuse their authority? Yes. But it's not a common thing. Believe me, cops cannot get away with police brutality anymore. Not in our criminal justice system. And how many cases of police brutality are there a year? I mean the legitimate ones. Not the ones that are filed by a high speed runaway because the cops weren't saying "please" and "thank you."

To say that you are glad cops get killed is sick. These are people who get into that business to help their community and protect the public. That means YOU you ungrateful, selfish, ignorrant, worthless, waste of space.

If someone ever breaks into your house, steals your belongings, hurts you, hurts someone you love, endangers your family's safety, rapes your mother, stabs your best friend, molests your children, kills your love...don't call the cops. You don't deserve their service.

    P.S. F*ck you.

Dammit, a couple security guards use questionable tactics (we couldn't even see how much the guy was resisting) and all of a sudden Bush is a dictator and we have no freedoms.

How a person can have such an under-developed brain is beyond me. I guess I'm just sad the public school system failed you so miserablly.

First off, I don't even want to read the rest of the posts, because it reads like a bunch of liberal bull$#!+....

From what I can tell, they are police officers, not security guards and if someone did go up and "put a boot in their face" as someone so elegantly put it, they would have been taken down, INSTANTLY.

Listen, he was not silenced for his beliefs or political views. He went on a rant about how Kerry should have won. He wanted to hear himself speak and it was pointless since everyone there wanted to hear what Kerry said in the first place. Trust me, Republicans don't go "I wonder what John Kerry has to say. Let me go to some random ass school and listen to his points of view."

The kid went a little too far, and the police tried to escort him away from the mic since he was taking valuable time away from other people who might have intelligent questions for him instead of "Don't you think you should've won?" Of course he thinks he should've won! WAKE THE ^%&$#@ UP!

When he started to RESIST (which is EXACTLY what he was doing. There is no denying it! He wiggled and argued, and jumped and screamed), that's when they TOOK HIM DOWN!!! There are laws. He was DISRUPTING the peace, which can get you in jail in some states. So, you all need to have a little wake-up call, and stop all this ridiculous banter about "Whatever happened to the land of the free? Der, there's the short bus!"

Seriously. Why not worry about more important issues, than some dumb kid who just wanted attention, and is obviously getting it. Ugh, why am I even posting here? I feel dirty. The only reason I won't delete this is because I already spent the time to write it.....

Ok, for all of you people who are defending the police actions here, and calling this guy just a loud mouth... remember this (and I am loosely paraphrasing as I don't have the exact quote on hand atm)

First they came for the gypsies... and I didn't care because they weren't my people. Then they came for the homosexuals... and I didn't care because they weren't my people...Then they came for the communists... and I didn't care because they weren't my people.... and then they came for me, and no one cared because there was no one left.

If you do not stand up for freedom, and vigorously defend it at ALL turns, then you will lose it. It was once said "I may disagree with what you say, but I will defend to the death your right to say it" I firmly agree with that principle. Apparently though for most of you if they don't say what you want to hear, they can go to hell for all you care. I'm sorry but this doesn't warrant a felony conviction under ANY circumstances. You're telling me that a college kid trying to make a point is worthy of a felony? Even when Kerry agreed that it was an "important question" ?

Like I said before.... the ONLY person who should have terminated that conversation early should have been Kerry himself. IF there was a pre-determined time limit on student questions, then that should have been stated by someone, and he should have been asked to leave or abdicate the microphone. He should NEVER had been asked to leave because of his views, his questions, or anything else short of straight up disrespect to Kerry

wow super_douche you're really got me there, your retort was so eloquent and made such sense i dont know how to respond. you are without a doubt the biggest tool ever. how do you know there not police again? because last time i checked security guards at a university cant arrest people, so im not so sure you understand whats going on. are you going on record with the rest of the small minority of idiots on here, that this kind of action was justified in this situation? i just want to make sure i got this right you think that asking more than one question on an open mic should be an arrestable offense? im glad to see the majority of the people responding on here feel the same way as i do, i guess it takes intelligence and intellect to understand something like this, dont worry maybe when you grow up you can grasp the bigger issues. i mean your only 8 years old, im sure when you mature with more worldly insight and start reading more things will become clear.

why does every tool on here say he was resisting? resisting what? what was the law he wsa breaking to be arrested? these losers bring up the same thing, "he was taking up time" "he asked more than one question" "he was being disruptive", and the best one "he was disturbing the peace". i dont know but i didnt see anyone being disturbed in fact the if anyone was guilty of disturbing the peace it was the police on campus, everything was fine until they got involved. what would have been so bad about letting him finish his questions regardless of how ridiculous they might be? anyone want to inform me on what the catastrophic results would have been? let me hear a logical reason for not letting him speak, remember the stipulation is that it must be logical not some trite talking point.

So it's OK to taser a street corner preacher, kids blasting bass in a car, people demonstrating, street corner salesman, etc, just because they're disturbing the peace and being annoying? Well, on second thought....

40 comments. How can I respond to them all? First off, I would like to say that I hope all of you 'freedom of speech' advocates, will be just as vocal to defend the rest of your rights, such as the right to bear arms. Second, for those that believe that the law is correct because it's "The Law," I would like to remind you that the "Law" kept some of us on the back of the bus for a long time, and wouldn't even let us all drink from the same water fountain.

PRAETORIAN1976 - I don't believe that you have ever served anything or any one except yourself. I agree with some of your points, but I'm not buying your back story.

FilmLUVER383 - Open your mind. (Or just call me.)

Oh, and Mr.Looser101, Do you just like hearing yourself, or are you searching for harmony?

(Sorry. That was uncalled for. I apologize.)

Gerrit303 believe what you like about my "back story". I don't care. I did my time in the army and i've had my fun in the sun. I still think the dip shit got what he deserved.

Praetorian do you really feel he was out of line what he was doing? How often do you get to ask a direct question to a president or presidential canidate? He wanted a clear and direct question, so he there could be no side stepping the question, which is why he set up his question. It is a college campus, his parents pay anywhere from 6k to 12k a semester for him to go there, should he not be able to speak his mind in full. He was not making a collegate dissertation, he simply set up his question while being interuppted, then got to his question. The campus cops, in my opinion, where there just to act as they did, political bumpers for any real questions. If you honestly do not think civil liberties have been more commonly being violated in the last 5 to 6 years, you are blind. Crazyand crazier laws and bills are passing, judges are chossing to support some ridiculous laws, and our say as We the people is diminishing. We may not be in a police state yet, but we are sure headed in that direction.

wow gotta agree with johnny on this one, there was no reason for the taser, and that was police brutality, he was not endangering anyone, the police didnt like his question so they decided to arrest him? how fucked is that? kerry was going to answer his question then they decide to arrest him and then taser him AFTER he says let me go and ill walk out and leave. think they ought to review on how you get hired as an officer in the states cuz thats just fucked up right there

Another example of some people's kid who thought he didn't get enough attention from Mommy & Daddy, and had to make a scene to feel his need being filled... what a loser!

Student Andrew Meyer was stunned by the officers with a Taser after causing a disruption at a forum held by Sen. John Kerry.
In the police report, released Sept. 19, Officer Nicole Lynn Mallo, who was involved in the incident, wrote: "(Andrew) Meyer stated , on the way to the jail, 'I am not mad at you guys, you didn't do anything wrong, you were just trying to do your job.' Meyer was laughing and being lighthearted in the car, his demeanor completely changed once the cameras were not in sight." This loser just wanted a spotlight as a prank, at the expense of John Kerry and the campus.

This guy was a total passive-aggressive drama queen.. Even as he kept saying " what am I doing, what am I doing?" you could see that he was obviously escalating the situation breaking free from the cops and resisting at every turn. He seemed well coached in making it look like he was being abused when in fact it was him who was abusing the forum.

p.s. "Don't tase me, bro" is one of the funniest things I've heard in a while.

Im a retired police officer and I dont think there was a reason to taser the kid. The officers and the department that hired them should both be held accountable

The only problem with claiming police brutality is the fact that he was in fact creating a disruption and that pretty much debunks his freedom of speech. I don't trust cops but their definitely seems to be strong evidence in the language that what happened is the kid panicked, resisted and they did what they are trained to do. Equal faults on the jumping of the gun of the cops and the guy making a bigger spectacle than he should have.

Good. Hit him again. Dial it up to about a bazillion volts. I'd like him extra crispy. He got what he deserved. Half-developed punks like him believe the constitution means 'I get to do everything I want whenever I want all the time and you have to sit there and listen.' He can leave the structured venue meant to give many people freedom to speak, and go outside and shriek until he drops. His freedom is intact. This display was contrived, calculated, and staged to give him a moment in the spotlight. Which he got.
