    32 years ago this was a pretty cool new idea and was reasonably affordable. Room-hogging? Let's see, today we have massive flat-panel screens in the $10K range (you could buy a new car for that), TeVos connected to satelite receivers, which can also be connected to DVD players, and PCs. How many electric cords, patch cords, and coax cables does that take? How 'bout the power draw when they are "turned off"? This system is still excellent, even if it does belong in the Smithsonian.

    Poor Betamax, My Uncle bought a betamax recorder/player back when they first came out. he was a TV repairman, and VERY "plugged in" to the best of the best electronic components in a home. He had the best stereo equipment available, and was CONVINCED that due to the technical advantage Betamax had over VHS....that he was sitting pretty on top of the world as far as the "War of the recorders went". Unfortunately........VHS was CHEAPER to build and record on........and the PORNOGRAPHY industry needed a bigger audience......for a price to profit ratio that appealed. It's kind of a funny punch line that early "HD" was held back by "Boobs". Yep, that's right......VHS eventually KILLED BETAMAX due almost ENTIRELY to PORN VIDEO on VHS......LMAO.
