I cannot find confirmation of this story or some others on the web. Maybe we're being punked...

I was told about this today at work....I'm a Xray and MRI tech. This story is COMPLETE BS.

There is no such thing as a brain xray! Xrays are used to image bones..MRI's are for soft tissue... and a brain scan or pituitary scan are both quite common. But MRI's have no harmful radiation

The radiologist interviewed said 30 mins of CONSTANT exposure would be 2 times the lifetime dose.

    XRAYS ARE TAKEN IN MILLISECONDS!

There is no Xray "ON Button" The exposure control (think jeopardy clicker that you have to hold down for 3 seconds to activate) would allow you at best to shoot one every 5 secs or so.

Doctors do NOT shoot xrays. Why would they? We shoot them and radiologists interpret them. Its that simple.

There are tons of other WTF's but this is too long already.

The funniest part to me was after they "killed him" the doctor said "Let's go get some help...like medical help...he's a doctor...very funny reenactment.

Yeah but there are certain precedents that any hospital has to follow. Xrays are in fact done the exact same way in any certified hospital. How is the guy an asshole. He is giving MANY legitimate reasons why this story cant be true. On top of that he's claiming to be an xray tech, so dont you think he would know better than you? You cant even form a complete sentence so how can you possibly know anything about the medical field? You're simply a flamer that lives to rip into people on the internet for no reason. Pathetic.

RROENTGEN: Thanks for clearing it up...now question is why Spike is showing this BS? Can we have explanation? Makes you think how many stories are true on show.....

'The funniest part to me was after they "killed him" the doctor said "Let's go get some help...like medical help...he's a doctor...very funny reenactment.'

actually ct scans which are carried out on the brain are essentially x rays, so it is possible

This doesn't seem true...unless it happened a long time ago. What year did this take place?

i could believe this. i was getting an xray done on my teeth and they have 2 types, both were aimed at my skull. it wasn't an 'x-ray tech' that took the xrays, it was a dentist assistant.

its true she had a clicker, but when she put the clicker up, it was a bit lower than waist lvl and someone could easily press it.

as for the milliseconds thing....what does that have to do with anything? exposure is exposure. you remember way back before all this 'safety' nonsense, that people who had xrays had radiation poisoning? or still remember, that even when doctors take xrays, they AREN'T in the room? if it being done in milliseconds isn't such a big deal, they wouldn't give you a lead apron and they definitely wouldn't separate themselves from you during the procedure.

RROENTGEN, seems to me that you're not taking the risks of your job seriously. i wouldn't want chancing you doing any xrays on me, lest you think overexposure to xrays 'isn't a big deal'.

vaarukiri: To you, it may look like the tube was aimed at your skull, but it is likely coned down quite a bit so that it is unlikely for the beam to go anywhere else that through your teeth (notice the dental films they use are just a small square that they have you slip into you mouth?)

The time of exposure is obviously very significant which is why RROENTGEN brought it up, try swiping your hand quickly across a flame, and then compare it to how it feels if you just let it sit there for half an hour.

The problem with this story is not that x-rays are harmless, it's that x-rays used medical diagnostics are low in energy, and the damage caused by diagnostic x-rays are usually to DNA. DNA damage takes a while to manifest itself... especially to organs that are not undergoing rapid cell division/replacement.. many people who were affected by the high levels of radiation from Chernobyl did not develop symptoms like hemoraging or systematic breakdown until at least days after exposure. A general diagnostic machine does NOT produce this level of radiation all at once... even over a time span of half an hour is unlikely...

This video was entertaining nonetheless, did you guys SEE where the victim's hand fell out from when he died??? haha

    Thank you R ROENTGEN!

I am too an x-ray tech and when I saw this last night I about died! The nervous system is the most radioresistant system in the body! It takes 5,000 rad plus to manifest symptoms even for Acute Radiation Sickness. The burning of the skin [Erythema], yes I could see if CONSTANT x-rays...but not brain damage to result in death!!!

Complete Crap People. One CT scan gives approximately 300-600 xrays worth of radiation and kills no one. How long do you think these two were going at it-- 10 years? ...And a brain xray... ROFL. Also you would think a lawsuit would have followed this sensational death even if they got the information wrong-- no record folks.
Get real Spike TV. You should have at least talked with a doctor or xray tech first.
