Description: Offshore powerboat racing is viewed as the ultimate motor sport on water, the equivalent of the world F1 series. The New Zealand Championship Series consists of eight races held at different venues around the North Island between January and May.

Each race venue is chosen for spectator appeal and unique on-course features - shorts legs with calm waters, long legs with rough chops and swells where even the largest boats struggle to maintain their pace. Boats competing in the UIM 100 mile classes are specifically designed race-boats, fitted with advanced safety features not found on normal family boats. These boats are up to 11 metres in length, have up to 1300 horsepower and are capable of up to 120 MPH.
