AS a minority myself, to be easily offended goes against what Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. advocated: empowerment. Had we "overcome?"

The couple of black people shown picking cotton in the very start aren't cariacatures, and it's a realistic to show them engaged in that activity in the South at that time.

The only cariacatures are of white people, especially the riverboat gambler.

Is it just me or is there nothing really offensive about this??...the whole "cotton" picking thing at the begining is just a historical representation

If this is offensive to blacks and is censored, Gone with the Wind and other classics aren't far behind. As a European American Caucasian find the BET channel offensive.

The "Camp Town Ladies" song and dance may be part of the issue.

There was nothing offensive about that. The black field hands were portrayed realistically and w/o caricature.

it blows my mind to see how retarded censorship can be. a good 80% of this country grew up on buggs bunny, road runner and the whole gang. so are we all now a bunch of criminals? look at the date it was banned!! 1949 wow. 20 years before my time. the river boat gambler sure reminds me of yosamity sam. well anyhow there is nothing offensive here. it is a well thought out cartoon and it's sad we were robbed of the pleasure of viewing it earlier in life. working in cotton fields was a fact of life in those days. and especially in mississippi. and the song could be edited if it was a problem. no this is a prime example of editing because so many people did not like black people and the ratings might drop. i don't think the cartoon was the issue, it was the people watching it at the time.

maybe it's cause the bunny is naked. I personally am very offended by naked animals. Why don't people clothe their pets, I think I'm going to be sick. I can't belive you people think that this kind of nudity is OK!!

Could it have something to do with stereotyping the cotton worker, smoking, gambling, attempted murder, cross dressing, intent of the wabbit with the southern gentleman, the flashing of a torn skirt and the peep... Naw... it had to do with the color of the Mississippi River being Piss Yellow- LOL

Too funny I thought it to be a wonderful blast from the past. I don't see anything offensive about it. I would consider it a historical record of the time frame. When I look at this cartoon I don't just follow the story line I view it as a terrific example of whats fast becoming ancient history and thats hand drawn animation. Bugs Bunny is the best.
