    Can someone tell me what caliber that gun was. It looks like an ar-15 which I believe it is but...it sounds much larger than a 5.56 and the casings look bigger than 5.56...anyone help me?

    It definately isn't 7.62, casing is to small. I have a sks and it's 7.62. The gun in use is a M24, check out their website to to find out more.

    Why don't you guys call them what they are...mercenaries? "Private security firm." And how are the Iraqis the insurgents and us the legitimate government? I seem to remember Iraqis living in Iraq and the Sunnis running the place before we came in and let in al-Qaeda and the Iranians a few years ago. And by the way, Blackwater IS on the payroll of Uncle Sam, so they are legally "war criminals" for not wearing US uniforms under Gonzales' definition. Besides, according to international treaties which Congress has signed, anything that happens in a country under a war we started is our responsibility, no matter who it is done by, period.

    Cool gun though.

    U fuckin pussies neither of these groups is an "army" per say. Its an old west style fight in a lawless town, and we invented that shit. This is one case where I say fuck it.     Gun is a Knight's Armament SR-16 M-5 rifle with R.A.S. rail system, Knight's does make the SR-25, but that is not the rifle shown. The SR-25 has a 4 position adjustable buttstock like those found on a standard M4 carbine, this rifle does not and has a solid, M16A2-length buttstock. This is also an SR-16 because in the next scene as we look over the balcony and we can see the muzzle of the weapon there is a triangular front sight, which the SR-25 lacks. Additionally, an SR-25 does not have a flash hider yet this rifle does, further confirming that this is an SR-16. The SR-16 is chambered for 5.56 NATO rounds, it might sound like a bigger caliber (.308/7.62 NATO) because of the acoustics of the surrounding area or the variations of the microphone's ability to capture the sound. Also, notice how little recoil is present when the rounds are fired; even though the marksman is a professional a 7.62mm round would cause much greater recoil. The gun being fired could never be a M24 as this is a 5 round, bolt-action rifle. An M24 looks completely different, much like a beefier Remmington 700.

    Political right or wrong aside, but I do have to say "Kannabis", sorry "kannabees", and bbcake009, we'll deal with you later, probably under a bridge. The weapon in this video is a highly modified M-16, chambered for a prototype 6.8 Remington SPC. Handguard is a Surefire, probably M-85, with a Leupold target optics. The rifle sounds louder, because it is louder. The weapon with the front handguard in view is not the same rifle, it was the snipers spotter, or his escort. Do you think Remington is going to introduce a new round to the military without some "field testing"? What better way to test than Blackwater? And it passed.

    Guys, there is no question as to the authenticity of this footage, and quite frankly, most of you have no clue what you're talking about in regards to the weapons. The build of that rifle is well know if you cared to look for it.



    I find the ignorance among the general public of what happened in that city to be widespread, but not particularly surprising. There seems to be a combination of people who never learned critical thinking, or who are too lazy to think for themselves or keep up to date on current events. To paraphrase an anonymous Marine, "America is not at war. The US Military is at war; America is at the mall."



    As for the "unlawful combatants" crap, please... contractors do not carry out OFFENSIVE operations; they're no different than armed security here, there, or anywhere. Guards are not "war criminals"; grow up.

    IIRC Travis has said that it was a Bushy rifle 20" Gov't profile, ARMS SIR rail, Leupold with M1 turrets in ARMS 22 rings, Harris Bipod, PEQ2.

    As for one shot one kill, they are not in hide, nor assassinating anyone. They are engaging a huge amount of foot mobiles as well as vehicles at range. Not sniping. Big difference, and a whole lot of skill used for both.

    As for war criminals, eat shit. They saved Najaf and the guys in the CPA as well as a Marine that had a bad chest wound. Travis was one of Bremer's personal bodyguards and volunteered to go in and help hold the CPA. They did what they were asked to do. Oddly, the US military, nor the Brits deemed doing so was worth while I guess.

''The 5-man Blackwater crew that was assinged to CPA Najaf were coming under heavy small arms and mortar fire, the city was being taken over by insurgents. The police stations and hospitals were taken over as well, after a day of fighting off hundreds of insurgents the city had been completely overrun, with the CPA in the heart of the city and no way out.

The Team called up to Baghdad and reported the situation, they said they needed immediate extract which Gen Sanchez also denied due to the fact the city had been overrun and there were no US troops there, only contractors.

Well, Ambassador Bremer was pissed at Sanchez and I remember being on office watch during the massive arguments! Ambassador Bremer and our Baghdad TM Leader got together and Bremer said ''I don't want another Bridge hanging! Get those boys out of there by any means nessassary!'' so 12 of us -- 6 pilots and 6 gunners loaded as much as we could in 3 MD530 little birds and headed 70 miles south. we flew in the first day and blind (no comms, and no intel on the heat) to try a resupply, land find out was was going on and then head back, rearm and get ready to go again. Well that night all hell broke lose and we flew back in. Over 1000 insurgents (reported by the F18 pilots) had taken the city and now wanted the CPA after a day of intense fighting by 11 BW guys, airstrikes, a handfull of Marines and 1 sniper we were able to hold them off. After it DIED down and gunships and SF guys finally started to roll in the battle was soon over and we the CPA was saved.

That's pretty much it in a nut shell...''
