Matt Damon needs to improve his acting, and the fact is a Democrat in the Senate wants the draft reinstated; not the Republicans.

Yeah, and maybe pampered rich actors should be drafted too.

Dummies 1 & 2 are lost on this. Yeah, Matt's a shitty actor, but it's not relevant. His point is solid. If you don't agree try arguing against it instead of throwing out witless insults.

As Michael Moore proved in Fahrenheit 9/11, no-one in power wants their children to be put in danger when those being kept at the bottom of the food chain are so desperate to escape poverty that they would give up their lives for such a flawed system. shame it was M.D., but the message is solid.

Actually, he does NOT say that he "wants to recruit the Bush twins". He says that they shouldn't be exempted from service if other their age aren't. The title of your video is very misleading. Listen again to the actual words being spoken.

Unfortunately, actors like Mr Damon have probably never had to do what he is suggesting that other peoples' children do. Oh and Zakarious; "Dummies..." who is throwing witless insults?

My son is in Iraq and did not have to go for financial reasons. What an uninformed comment!!!! My sons joined the military because they were taught that if there is a job to do, you step up and do it and don't wait for someone else to do it for you!! Especially, not the Bush twins. What a moron!

George W. Bush, dodged Vietnam what makes Mat Damon thinks that The Bush Twins will not carry on the same family tradition. They would probably go as far as Mary Cheney and get pregnet to keep from going.

What Matt Damon was saying, basically is that he wants a draft so that everyone has to serve. I think that's a valid point. If we want to go to war then everyone should have to pitch in, even his kids, when they are of age. But the only problem with that is that we live in a free society where we have a voulnteer military and we have the right to choose not to serve if we don't want to. But what does bother me is his assestment of those who do serve. Does he truly believe the everyone in the military is there because they are "poor" or couldn't get good grades? Is this the thought process of people like Damon and Kerry, who said that if you don't get good grades then you get stuck in Iraq - I know he SAID he was making a joke about Bush but it DID NOT come off that way. This "fighting class" that Damon is talking about makes it sound like he believes that the people that serve don't have any other choice. but this isn't the case. Alot of people in the class levels he was talking about don't serve and still have the chance and do achieve great things. It's hard to swallow when a guy who makes $7 million a pic wants to talk about people not serving in the military who don't come from a wealthy background. I hope when his children are of age he will not be a hypocrite and talk them into serving as well.

Dbluvsit: "My sons joined the military because they were taught that if there is a job to do, you step up and do it and don't wait for someone else to do it for you!!" LOL What a crock! So they heard that Bush was going to invade Iraq and then they enlisted because "there is a job to do"? LOL What a crock!

Well, my friend joined the military because he was led to believe that it was the ideal way for him to continue his education, get job skills, get paid, and so on. Of course, when he first signed up he wanted to pursue the medical field, and was under the impression that he could. Now he's training as a heavy vehicle mechanic, is getting less than he initially did, he fractured his hip within the first couple of months, but he's still in good enough shape to go through training... And, of course it's just rumours at this point, but he's heard he's being sent there once he's done and graduated. He'd been told in the beginning that he wouldn't be, but recent developments cast doubt.

Besides him, I know at least 3 other people that are joining or have already joined for the money/education aspect. They were broke, the army offered to educate them. Now we don't really hear from them.

We'd like to think that all young men and women join out of uber-patriotism and love of country, but there are other motivations. And it makes me sad a little. :\

    Blahblahblah... xx;

Get over it! If you join the military, you know what to expect. During peace, you train. during war, you fight. go sell your sob story elsewhere. If you choose to be part of either of these two options....dont join the military!!!!!

This is such a tired argument already. We are an all volunteer force. No one wants to serve with someone who is forced to be there. Now, they are saying these people in the military have no alternative but to join the military because of their economic condition. What would remedy this an equal distribution of weatlh maybe? Fucking idiot commie rich asshole actors thinking they know what is best for the country. It is easy for them to pretend that they know what is best for us considering they do not live under the same conditions as most people in this country. Arrogant attitudes like Matt Demon and John Kerry seem to be prevalent in the DNC.

GWag, get real. The Democrats and Damon are saying "The Neocons / Conservatives / Republicans are using the poor to fill up the military. Let the sons and daughters of the RICH get into this war-for-oil TOO, and see how quicikly the billionaires start agreeing that we shouldn't be in Iraq, killing Americans and Iraqis, all so Halliburton can have a few more billion dollars in no-bid contracts.

The military recruiters focus on the jobless-- the poor. It's even sadder when people volunteer for the US army, thinking that they will be asked to fight for something worthwhile like freedom or defense...and then get sent to Iraq or Afghanistan as an INVASION force, for reasons that involve a president7s popularity and a military budget, NOT for reasons that you can be proud of.

Matt Damon (and Michael Moore) has got it right. Don't let the rich lead us into meaningless conflicts, while they sit at home sipping tea and watching the war on Faux News propaganda network.

First off Matt Damon should make a fist and use it to knock some sense into his head. He probably thinks he has been programmed to kill by the US government and if a brilliant person, the one he plays on screen, can be put on the line of destruction than other lesser people would most likely be put on the same course. What we see here is the residue of ¿Method Acting¿. The secret is out¿Matt brainwashed himself, that is why it looks to believable.

Then there is the name calling. Can¿t play in the mud and call the other guy dirty. Oh and what was the point? OH, it was solid. Well you can use your head to find it. Troubling in the mud, I am sure you¿ll find it.

The Great (big) Michael Moore; just the sound of his name makes me shudder. Talk about propaganda. Moore is a machine onto himself. He will spike the punchbowl. Leave. Then come back in an hour and actually be surprised the punch has been spiked. He is that good. Matt could learn a thing or two from Moore. I am reminded of an in class assignment where I was instructed to write an essay. I was told to add interesting facts, quotes and statistics. When I pointed out that the class would first need time to prepare, the instructor calmly stated ¿Make Them UP¿. Moore understands the value of telling a lie to tell the truth.
