    Black and White in Florence In Florence, Italy, promoters of the the 16mm Film Festival claim it to be the first Festival dedicated to 16 and 8 mm black and white films. The goal of the festival is to promote black and white film; basically cinema that opposes digital technology or as their press states; "A technology too accessible to everyone." The 16mm Film Festival is presently calling for the submission of experimental films, video art and music videos from the world over - but entries must be derived on Super 8 and 16mm black and white film. Directors may submit multiple works for consideration, but at most one film will be admitted into the competition and the jury will award the following prizes: Send your DVD Now to www.16mm.it

Description: The title song for the Jim Carrey movie about prankster-comedian Andy Kaufman finds R.E.M. at an artistic peak in this cut off Automatic for the People. Moody and oblique, the video features singer Michael Stipe strolling movie-star handsome through the scrubby desert as split-screen montages cascade past in glorious black and white: an evolution-of-man flip book here, a slithering asp there. With playful lyrics about skepticism and belief, the video ends up at dusty St. Peter's truckstop where the weathered regulars sing along with the band: "If you believe, they put a man on the moon..."
