The Iranians "State of the art" cracks me up...heat seeking, shoulder fired, single man missiles? That's it? An "unjammable" land to sea fired missile...even IF that was true, it wouldn't make it past the Aegis systems, or the newer soon to be deployed systems that fire MILLIONS of shots per minute (seriously, it's a new kind of "gun"..can't remember the name, but it's a revolutionary new design for projectile weapons...actually I think it's called something like "metal storm"; it's practically a force-field because of the wall of metal it puts up per single firing)! A highly maneuverable "flying boat" that was only shown to be capable of flying in a straight line?!? Invisible to detection, uh huh... Just line 'em up boys...just line 'em up.

so this new gun(metal storm) if the concept is so good why haven't the armies of the world adopted the Australian system which works on the same principles and has been around for a decade. as always real-life never plays out the way the PR men want. hell even the best cruse missile is only 70% effective and that's in controlled experiments. smart bombs, reactive armour, night vision, stelf bombers and fighters etc etc. if all of our weapons are so good why cant we win in Iraq. What this video shows is an independent arms industry. Example, if I'm in an back yard, out of site from ground troops. and say a helicopter fly over at 1000 feet and i fire this shoulder launched missile. Hows your metal storm going to help the pilots in the chopper.

The new gun metal storm which is its correct name is being built in Australia as we speak . Its suppose to be complete in 18 months i read in the paper which was a couple months ago.It has a lot of promise as the Chinese realize and offer the designer a sum of 50 million US to move from Australia to bejin china. The US military went as far to say that it must remain in allied hands. The gun is suppose to have no moving parts and is capable of firing a million round per minute ..(hence the name metal storm) as far as Iran goes there military is not to be sneezed at and could do some serious damage. They have quite a lot of advanced weaponry.

The only thing that cracks me up here are people who think Iran is backward and primitive because they live in the desert. It's a modern army, the fact that the picture quality is not as good as Fox's propaganda changes nothing.

you talk about Fox propaganda, but the fact is. Fox is the only station that tells it like it is. without left wing bias. they are fair and balanced. and that is the only station i can say that about. im sick of watchin CNN or MSNBC and all i see is negative propaganda about the war. War is war. it isnt pretty, but we have every right to be there.

Just for historical completeness, the U.S. Navy had two effective jet sea boats in the 50's. The Vought F2Y Sea Dart was a SUPERSONIC sea-going interceptor(1948). The Martin P6M Sea Master(1955) was basically like a sea-going B-52. It flew over 600 mph. Both were eventually cancelled because of cost vs. military needs of the day.
In the 1980s, the Soviet designers produced the Ekranoplan series: water-skimmers, using the "ground-effect" for lift. They were high speed military transports. Successful, but ultimately not needed.
