Audi and Ford withdrew from Rally Racing until something was done about control. This vintage footage from the Audi Rally model from back in the days before protective barriers and crowd restrictions will show you why.
Unfortunately it took the death and serious injury of a few spectators before the delicate niche was reached between peoples' common sense and the event organizers' creation of designated safe areas.

I have been a fan of Audi racing for years. In particular, I love what their Turbo Diesels have done in endurance racing over the past few years. Thanks for posting this clip.
