  Lets think for a few seconds about how it works.
  
  Let me remind you, infrared security lamps have what is called a "Safe Working Distance" in the specs. Google and read why. And, let me assume the sun is much more powerful than those lamps. I really don't think staring at it is the only way to mess with your eyes. By using such a setup you are already messing with your eyes, the question is how long does it takes before any permanent damage actually happens.

  Could you actually be any more stupid bofis_I? If you had thought about this for more than a few seconds you'd realise that this FILTERS the light, in order to give the illusion that you are seeing in the infra red spectrum. Humans CANNOT see infra red light. So, how does having LESS light mess with your eyes?
  
  If we take your "logic" to it's conclusion and accept that "the sun is much more powerful than those lamps" then all of us would be blind the moment we opened our eyes for the first time.
