I don't think a lot of you guys get the whole 'I Am Legend' thing. It was retarded to switch up the ending like they did, because the original pretty much defined the movie.
If you read the book, you know 'I Am Legend' is talking about the fact that he spent all his time killing these things, thinking they were monsters and he was the only one who could stop it, but it turns out that he was the monster terrorizing them. He was like their boogeyman, their legend.

Turn off your PS2/XBOX/PC. Not everything has to be 'kill the mindless zombies'.
Because they are not mindless zombies....remember the leader braved the sun to come after Will when he first captured the girl. Also, they set the trap for him with the dummy....using the same tactics that he used to capture the girl.
This ending gave the infected some humanity....some hope.
Mind you that still shines a hard light on Will's experiments....did all those infected really need to die to find a cure...but that is for another discussion.

The ending of the book was so much better, but not nearly cinematic enough to translate well to modern theater. The problem I have with this ending is that it removes the whole point of him being a legend, though the original ending changes the meaning of "I Am Legend" as a title.

I HATED the fact they used CGI characters [that looked like they were cheaply lifted from a video game] when they deserved to be REAL PEOPLE under make up ......
Lifeless CGI is a no no [it didnt work on VAN HELSING and it didnt work on I AM LEGEND] - overall a thumbs down experience for me and I <3 the original novel [the film makers here need to be bitch slapped for messing this one up] .....

Hard to say...it leaves the whole point about being a legend cloudy. None the less, it was nice to put a positive feel to it.....I don't know?

i dont like either ending but i think the one in theaters was better. i liked the thought of them being mindless zombie like creatures because that is how they were portrayed throughout the entire movie. and the leader could have been after him so bad because I Am Legend was taking out their race. the ending in the book was the best.

Much better ending. Not because it ended in a possitive note....the other ending did to with her making it to the safe town, but because it completed the story of why the infected leader was after him so bad and gave some humanity to the infected. Instead of just mindless robots to kill with no thought, but people that are fighting to survive against all odds.
Much better ending.
