Ed Wood reached cult status many years ago. I watched his movies in the 50s and always enjoyed them. Were they terrible? Yes. Were they entertaining? Yes. My favorite was "Plan 9 From Outer Space", a cult film indeed. Ed Wood drank himself to death according to his wife. Viewers not familiar with Ed wood should watch director Tim Burton's 1994 movie "Ed Wood" starring Johnny Depp and Bill Murray. The critics hated the movie but I give it two thumbs up. Depp is great as Ed Wood. Martin Landau won an Oscar for Best Supporting Actor Academy Award portraying Bela Legosi. Great material James, and I loved your "Fast Eddie" comment. Wood is no Orson Welles when Welles directed, wrote, and starred in Citizen Kane" but you have to give Ed Wood credit for TRYING. Great stuff!! Ed Woods idol was Orrson Welles.

By eccentric you mean inbred?
By the way, Glen or Glenda is something to laugh at, but I really don't get how anyone can find any value in Plan 9 From Outer Space. I've never watched the whole film, since it's so damn bad and boring

Another thing that should be mentioned about Ed Wood, although he was panned by for being a filmmaker, he seemed to have had better success as a writer as he wrote wrote dozens of pulp crime, horror, and sex novels because as he became increasingly unable to fund film projects, the novels seem to have become Wood's primary source of income.

i love ed wood... art house movies are fun for a laugh, and also have very deep meanings behind them as im sure you already know... but for what its worth i think the man was VERY good at what he did.. even if some people do consider him to be the worst film maker around, how can people say that with shit like (transformers) being out? now THAT is a bad movie... or independence day... there is so many other (worse) movies out there... plus bela lugosi? fucking epic... i even own some of ed woods movies.. do you know how hard those are to find outside of the internet? lol

Ed Wood, can¿t say I¿ve seen any movies by him ¿ but will see in part 2 if any feels familiar. Just one thing that I thought about when watching the review: what was his budget on the films in comparison to other films from the same period?

Great work, James. You should talked more about movie "Ed Wood" by Tim Burton, whick is my one of favourite. Also like "Plan 9", don't understand why is it calling the worst movie of all time, I just don't get it.
I'm another fan from Poland.
cheers
