Description: A Dream: The Community Of Pasac Segundo tells the story of a Guatemalan village struggling to take their future into their own hands after three decades of civil war. Peace Accords were signed in 1996, yet the climate of development for the country's rural communities has been sluggish, due in part to discrimination towards the indigenous culture and the usual association of progress with a bureaucratic standstill. Through determinate collaboration, the will of Pasac Segundo to become a flourishing community becomes a reality through autonomous undertakings such as the building of their own schools where a corn crop once lay and the organization of medical field visits to this otherwise neglected rural community. All the while proudly keeping true to their Mayan heritage and vision, the community embarks together towards an uncertain future, boldly facing the challenge of making life prosperous for generations to come.

What distinguishes the community of Pasac Segundo from other villages is their sense of urgency, their restless determination to move forward. While a static sense of hopelessness, stunted progress and broken promises may grab a hold of those searching for any sort of governmental aid, Pasac thrives on its own, through motivational organization of committees with a voice from and for the village itself. The members of the community, who are all leaders, build on this never-ending struggle for justice, education, health and cultural preservation.
