If the ladies in the ad were young 20-somethings then I bet the ad wouldn't have been banned. Age discrimination is a reality, especially for women. I've lost count of how many times I've heard how older men are "distinguished" but older women are just "old" (with that nasty subtext undertone of "and unattractive"). Three cheers to Dove for showing that older is beautiful. It's too bad that only people who browse the Internet are going to see this.

This commercial is airing in the UK and all over Europe now, its a shame that America can't see it, too.

I envy those women in the commercial. They're twice my age and they still look better than me!

I also agree that it was a very artsy commercial as well. It's not all gratuitous and full-frontal; yet it still got banned.

They'll show a baby's bare rear end on tv and not call it child pornography, but put a bunch of earthy, beautiful mature ladies on the same screen, and the censors are pissed. Something wrong here.

i definitely thing the 'dove campaign for beauty' is on the right track. we get to see this ad in canada as well. whoever banned this ad in the us is obviously too concerned with their own conservative agenda to understand real beauty. uptight, ignorant and too worried it will arouse any deprived and repressed emotions in the wrong people to appreciate it's modesty.

    come on america.

Yeah, this video hasn't been banned in Canada. I just saw it on tv not five minutes ago. So yeah.

And if they showed everything than it would be too much and deserved to be banned, but they are still covered. So it has no right to be banned anywhere in the world. We Canadians must understand that and that's why it hasn't been banned.

Im probably only posting because I took Sociology of Aging in college but as you can all see with the banning of this add, ageism is very real in America.

the only problem with this commercial is just like dancingkatz said its age discrimination. the women in this commercial were elegant and beautiful in a very natural way, yet you turn to a Spike Tv. and see a women in nothing but lagerie and thats ok. like whatever.

there is a time to say; WHEN.. but freedom of speech is used, I think if these women were confident to do the commercial, they should be advertised.

Figures it would be airing abroad. It's American shame of growing old and the body rolled into one. I admire these women for doing such a beautiful ad.

I,thought the commercial was great,it couldn't been easy for those ladies

on the commercial or photo shoots. They had to have a lot of self confidence

    to proudly pose nude.

Barring themselves in such a way.Though I am a man I,was worried for those ladies because I,knew there would be criticizim positve and negotive

I,felt they most likely be put down for what they did.I,cherish older women

40-50's.And respect women of Dove for what they did.At 35 I,realize all women are beauitful.I,don't think it should of been banned,I,hope more

    campaigns proage continue. Deon

Every one of these women are beautiful in their own right. Unfortunately, in the US ... older women may buy the majority of the products, but it seems we aren't supposed to see them as the beautiful people they are.
