this film is great.it exposes the lies about the debt relief.we Ghanaians are very much disppointed about the miserable goals of Make Poverty History campaigners and angry about the imposition of such low horizons through the HIPC initiative. We Ghanaians want to be treated equally like the rich countries. We're intelligent and discerning people who know what is best for us.Mr Blair and the west should stop meddling in our national issue. Our hard-won independence which give the the right to self determination is not one of the western largess. Our aspiration is to catch with the west and even go beyond.the Western imposed miserable milleneum development goals MDGs and poverty reduction are never enough to divert our unfliching effort for economic growth and society-wide material property.Ghanaians have unalienable right to have living standards like their peers in UK,US etc and this can only happen through development not poverty awareness jamborees by Bob Geldof and Make Poverty History activists orG8 and world bank's strings, poverty reduction schemes.Ghanaians are tired of being pitied by the feel good, image redeeming and self esteem tendencies by the west.We want to be envied by collective efforts to liberate our potentials for accelerated development, that will give us the freedom from toil and drudgery Kwesi,Accra-Ghana

Great documentary piece!! If only more were able to see the likes of this and really get a better understanding of what debt-cancellation really means to the people of Africa!

I think it's important to distinguish between three different groups of people in the North when talking about debt cancellation: 1) politicans and bureaucrats from the G8 and the World Bank and IMF, 2) holier-than-thou celebrities like Bob Geldof who attach themselves to things like Make Poverty History to boost their image and make money, and 3) campaigners around the world who have campaigned for 100% debt cancellation without conditions for years and who have been speaking out against HIPC and the conditions imposed by the IMF and World Bank. The politicians are clearly despicable, the celebrities are irritating and egotistical, but I don't think the campaigners have low horizons - it's only through campaigning in both North and South to break the power of rich governments and corporations that countries like Ghana will be able to develop properly. We need to keep our demands radical, and not be afraid to criticise Brown, Blair, Bono and Geldof when they claim to be the saviours of the poor. See www.jubileesouth.org for the radical Southern campaign on debt.

With all the resources the west has to offer, you'd THINK they would be willing to listen to what people in developing nations actually want and need and would raise their "low horizons."

It is amazing how people in the west think they are superior to those in developing nations simply because they are more affluent...we must not try to control these nations! What they need is aid, not a preaching.
