Description: The father can't hide behind the confessional screen when confronted by the object of his desire.

The highest-grossing film in the history of Mexican cinema, Amaro stars Gael Garcia Bernal of Y Tu Mama Tambien. A new priest is sent to a small parish in Mexico. Before long, he begins an affair with a local teenage girl, whose mother, it is discovered, has been embroiled in a love relationship with the established priest in the parish for years. Amaro discovers that the Church is in bed with all kinds of shady characters in the region just as the depth of its corruption is exposed by a journalist in a respected newspaper. Amaro must decide whether he will succumb to the enticing power of the Church or seek truth and real righteousness in his life. (less)
