I agree with this list. Blues Brothers has two awesome car chases. I love the first where they're going through the mall. Comedy mixed with a car chase. And Death Proof had one hell of a car chase. Glad to see some 007 on here too. James bond had a lot of awesome car chases.

The car chase from Bullit lies so close to my heart. A true classic. The Bond-movies also has a lot of great chases, the video makes me wanna go see some James Bond right now. And the crazy pile up of cop cars in Blues Brothers is just insane.
My friend and his uncle once actually counted all the cars that where wrecked in that movie, I dont remember the result but they managed to count it.
Great list, and I am truly looking forward to see more movie reviews and lists from you Mr. Rolfe

Yeah, Death Proof rocks. Great choice. I love Kurt Russell in that movie.

Great #1 choice... but what about these: Live Free or Die Hard (2 awesome scenes) and all the chases in the Bourne films?

Car chases are awesome, especially when there are cardboard boxes in the middle of the street. Is there any plausible reason why they would be there? No, and that makes it just so much more awesome.

No scenes takes from italian movies? Like "La Mala Ordina" "by Ferdinando Di Leo? Or "Delitto al ristorante cinese" by Bruno Corbucci? :-)

Wow James, Death Proof as Number 1? What are you smoking? The chase in Death Proof was incredibly limp, it doesnt even deserve to be in the top 20 of car chases. I'm a fan of Tarantino but this movie had a lame storyline and was filled with longwinded lame dialogue I couldnt care less about. And one thing I also hate is Tarantino trumping up crap like his was the best car chase scene ever, ummm no. It was ok but nowhere near reaches the likes of Blues Brothers, Castle of Cagliostro, Mad Max 2, or Ronin. Some of those titles which are missing from this shoddy list. I know its all based on opinion James, but this list was just terrible sorry to say.

I agree with MOST of your choices, with one GLARING omission. What about the ultimate car chase from "The French Connection"????????? There are others that come to mind, but I can see your side of it, with this one exception. Otherwise, I would also add "Dirty Mary Crazy Larry", "The Cannonball Run", "The Gumball Rally", "Fear Is The Key", "Vanishing Point", etc. etc. etc.........

I can't argue with Death Proof or a couple others on this list, and not a bad list overall... However, I felt that other chases that were epic were left out. These include the chase scene in Bad Boys 2 (Jamaican guys throwing cars at cops), The ROCK (Sean Connery tearing up SF in a Humvee), and of course Ronin, which needs no explanation. Those scenes were epic.

I agree with Death Proof. But... I guess Pee-Wee's Big Adventure doesnt really count as a car chase. I mean there's gold carts I suppose. But Pee-Wee's chase at the studio is the best chase scene I have ever seen.

I love all those too, but you should have really included the car chase scene from "Ronin". That is my fucking favorite of all time. I've read a few comments of other people who share my feelings. That scene is just Magnificent.

I just joined this website purely for the purpose of making this comment, James you are a very talented bloke but you got the car chase one completely wrong, you left out Ronin and the chase in Jade and put in The 7ups which ripped off Bullit and the French Connection and worse of all you said that pile of crap car chase in that pile of crap film was the number one? Dude Deathproof was one of the worst films ever made and Tarantino is bloody crap, when he is not ripping off Asia he loses touch and does not know what to do, and Bullit should have been number one or at the very very least two. Peace my American brother.

I can't say I agree with Road Warrior not getting a spot on the list. The last 20 minutes of the movie should at least get it an honorable mention.
Well, that's just what I think.
