I liked the Batman TAS Batman personality best; less of a playboy, great voice. Okey, West wasn't much of a playboy, but he gave me the gibblies. But he did have a nice slim body instead of a gross muscular one. Robin was either the TVLand or oldies radio DJ, & grampa went to school with the dark haired Catwoman lady girl type person. :P
Nothing llike sitting in the ol' Bat's Cave, waiting to be pooped on.
lol, 3 Robin Crothes.

89 "A lot of excitement over a moth-miller on a headlight!"
Kane may have confused this with Captain Satan, who had a flash light with a devil symbol painted on the lens. (Thanks for Doctor Hermes for pointing that out.)

The Bat in the film does not use any signal at all. If you watch the film, it is actually a moth on a car's headlights projected. The true forerunner of the Bat-signal comes from the Phantom from Phantom Detective Magazine (not the Lee Falk series). The Phantom was introduced as a world wide recognized detective, whose identity only one man knew, Frank Havens - the publisher of the Clarion newspaper. In one issue, the Havens had installed on the roof of the Clarion building a red beacon, which he'd turn on when he needed to see the Phantom. Robert Reginald wrote a recent new Phantom novel.

When I was a kid, I was a big fan of the "Batman Beyond" spinoff cartoon, so naturally I became a Batman fan. And this video just makes me wanna see even more Batman stuff. Personally, I prefer the campy Batman, and I also think that Adam West IS Batman XD
I haven't seen the recent Batman films, mostly because I can't stand Christian Bale, but eventually I'm gonna check them out.

Batman rocks! can't wait for part 2 and 3 Batman and Batman Returns by Burton are great films, Batman Forever is not very good, but Tommy Lee Jones was great great as two face if I remember right.. Batman and Robin... Now thats a load of crap! I could go on and on with everything thats wrong with that picture, but I think I'l leave that to you James. "The Bat" looks interesting. going to try and find it. Now, Batman begins is a great film! but then you can't go wrong with Christopher Nolan. And I can't wait for The Dark Knight!!! Also the animated film Batman: Mask of the Phantasm is really good! very atmospheric.

Great first part!
I had no idea about The Bat, either.
I am curious if this three-part series is going to cover the various cartoons (both Filmation shows, the Scooby-Doo guest-starring eps, Superfriends, the Timmverse, and the newer show), since you've included the '60s show.

I met Bob Kane during taping of a show in Burbank, NBC, During a Q/ A with Adam, Frank, and Burt,
he exclaimed although he enjoyed the novelty that the TV show brought to the Batman franchise, he always felt that the animated series was as close to his original inspiration for the character he created of Batman, so I found it ironic that you didn't want to mention the series here,
oh well. other than that, as always great job,
Hey!
if you like sci fi check out my film.

I agree about the 60's show/movie. While I may prefer the dark Batman image I still love the camp and wish the episodes would be realeased on DVD.
Bob Kane gets too much credit for Batman. The real mastermind behind the character was Bill Finger.
