Description: The Yangtze River, the lifeline of China, originates in a glacier in the Dangla Mountains of Tibet and runs for 4,200 miles. It is the third longest river in the world after the Nile and Amazon. Throughout history, people have been drawn to the Yangtze for trade, transport, and tourism. The Chinese people say that if you haven't traveled up the Yangtze, you haven't been anywhere.

ABOUT EXPLORE: Explore is a philanthropic multimedia project of the Annenberg Foundation that showcases cutting-edge non-profit efforts around the world through documentaries, short films, video moments and photography. (less)
