Description: Set in the Depression of the 20th century. Fugitive Ben Hawkins finds solace in the anonymity of traveling with a carnival. The carnies--among them a blind mentalist, conjoined twins and a tarot card reader--and the carnival's ominpotent Management provide a backdrop of supernatural mysticism. Hawkins' spriritual twin--doppelganger?--is a Methodist minister, with whom he is on a collision course in the struggle between good and evil.
