Description: Citizens of Great Neck, NY discuss how the revelation of the Friedmans' crimes tore the community apart.

The foundation of a seemingly normal, upper-middle-class Jewish family is rocked when the father and his young son are arrested and charged with heinous crimes. This documentary about the accused father-and-son pedophile team includes their disturbing family home video, interviews with victims (and alleged victims), police and prosecuters. The winner of the 2003 Sundance Film Festival Jury Prize, Capturing the Friedmans examines the explosion of publicity as the Great Neck, New York family is torn apart in 1987 by the sordid revelations of the story and the scandalous suspicions of the community. It's a tortured tale that's swimming in guilt, pain and ambiguity.
