    I cannot find the humor in denigrating women and bashing Jews. I thought this display of disgusting sexism and racism was abhorrant. Jay Leno should be ashamed. "Borat" should be fined for his "wardrobe malfunction. Martha Stewart should have known better than participate in this kind of thing.

    Arlene756, don't you think describing this clip as "abhorrant" is a bit over the top? I understand it put your undies in a bundle, but words like abhorrent are typically reserved for heinous deeds such as those committed by the DC Snipers or a few thousand Catholic priests. Borat is an obvious parody, not a murderer or child rapist. Get your moral priorities straight and while your at it, lighten up.

    I think Arlene's comment is a reflection of a deeper sense of understanding of what is truly implied in instances of the media such as this one. Many of us do not recognize this as sexism, however the subtle implications of this clip surely replicate a sense of sexism which is mirrored in our society yet we fail to recognize on a daily basis. This is precisely why Arlene's comment was not take on a serious note but is rather criticized as being perhaps too blunt of an interpretation because we fail to recognize the seriousness of these sterotypes ourselves.

He's a comedian in the same vain as Dave Chappelle I think where he puts all the issues on the table and doesn't sweep them under the rug naively as if they don't exist...like modern day "liberals" who'd rather ignore problems than recognize them and try to bring about change. Sexism STILL exists on a large scale, so does racism, classism etc...no need to hide from it.

    Right. You have to realize that Sacha Baron Cohen isn't an idiot. If anything he is using his influence, through comedy, to bring up some very important points; like Andrewid mentioned sexism is still very much alive, and pushing it under the carpet and forgetting about it isn't going to fix it, because it will still be there. Comedy is a very influential medium, how better to bring up such ugly topics than by shedding some light on them? If you guys are actually concerned about sexism in this world than you should be able to understand that ignoring the subject matter won't get anything accomplished. People can take advantage of a situation if the problems are placed in front of EVERYBODY to see.

    The very essence of "Borat's" humour is to amplify any sort of prejudice and ignorance and to show how ridiculous this is. His humour is not in his antisemitism or his over the top chauvanism, but in how people react to it. Sacha himself is a devout Jewish man and his abilty to make people laugh and expose ridiculous amounts of prejudice and ignorance is nothing short of brilliant. This guys makes you laugh and really consider these issues at the same time.
