I'd hate to be the one to defend O'Reilly, so I won't. However, I think I know what O'Reilly means to talk about (as opposed to what he actually says). O'Reilly is probably conflating two very different events -- The Germans shooting U.S. prisoners during the Battle of the Bulge (the "Malmedy Massacre"), and U.S. soldiers shooting German prisoners following the liberation of the Dachau concentration camp. Following the war, the United States held a tribunal at Dachau which tried the Germans accused of the Malmedy Massacre. Thus, Dachau and Malmedy are often linked even though the Dachau Tribunals had nothing to do with the shooting of prisoners there.
