    My overall observation of this piece in one word¿Fantastic! The opening reminded me of one of those old line-ups that featured an investigative reporters beginning journal entries, in pursuit of solving a mystery¿music and all. You certainly have a seamless speaking voice for documentary features. Technically, the camera work, sound, editing, and commentary within the segments, were spot on! Congratulations on a successful creation that you can treasure forever. You could have warned us to bring a tissue....

    Jane, I had no idea your mom was a famous lady. I was able to find you by HLN. You have come a long way, congratulations to you ... However, I have to state it appears to me that you had it really hard partly due to your mom's life. Married 4 times. But as you said, she help you decide to start a life of fame and I always wanted this. I personally never had support from my, and she was abusive, and my father he is a total mystery to me. I do not know anything about him really and never met his side of the family, not even his mom who now passed.
    I also notice you called your mom by her first name. That to me shows pain.

    I feel this movie so much. I loved my mother but she was a mystery to me. I know nothing of her childhood. She was married twice. I didn't know and she never spoke of that. I have an alcohol addiction that I am working on. I will certainly buy your book as I need to explore what you went through. I feel I will substitute with something else as I have done before. Thanks so much XOXO Working and loving myself more each day. The truth really does set you free. I live in Vancouver, BC so do you know when the book will be available in Canada?

    I have worked in finance for 20 years and I now want to do something in the humanities. So I also understand the (what was in it for me syndrome). I need to feel full.

    Jane, your mother is delightful!! It is very easy to see where your talent and beauty came from. Your entire family is so beautiful and talented. Thank you so much for sharing this personal side of your life. I never miss your show - "Issues" and I have been a fan for many years.

    This was great. Your mother had a very exciting life, but sad it had to included a pervert. Your entire family is beautiful with love and compassion for each other. May God bless you always. I love your shows and all the hard work you do to help keep our children and families safe.

Description: Spurred by her father's untimely death, Los Angeles television news anchor Jane Velez-Mitchell turns the camera on herself in a three year journey to gain insight into her relationship with her mother. Jane hopes to learn how Anita Velez, a Puerto Rican former circus and vaudeville performer, now in her eighties, has managed to continue literally "dancing through life."
