Description: New Orleans is one of America's oldest and liveliest cities. When Hurricane Katrina struck in August 2005 and the city's levee system broke, nearly 2,000 people were killed and the storm caused more than $84 billion in damages. The historic birthplace of Jazz, once home to more than 1.4 million people, quickly transformed from "The Big Easy" to "The Big Empty" when many evacuated families were not able to return to their homes. Explore visits the city during its rebirth and meets with community leaders dedicated to rebuilding a safe, sustainable New Orleans despite all obstacles. (less)
