A psychiatrist (Hugh Bonneville) takes a job as the new superintendent of a maximum security mental institution. When he and his wife (Natasha Richardson) move to the grounds, she falls in love with one of the patients (Martin Csokas), a sculptor and convicted violent felon who's working to restore the exterior of the antiquated building.
