Two friends (Matt Damon, Casey Affleck) go for a hike in the desert and lose their way. The confusion brought on by the unfamiliar landscape, the sun, the wind and fatigue leads the two into dangerous geographic and mental territories. Director Gus Van Sant experimented with long shots to give the film a more real-time feel.
