An Eastern European immigrant (Tom Hanks) is stuck in the airport terminal for months as the INS sorts out his paperwork.

Tom Hanks plays Viktor Navorsky, an Eastern European immigrant on his way to the U.S. While Viktor is in the air, war breaks out in his homeland, making him an INS oddity: belonging neither here nor there, he waits--and waits and waits and waits--in the airline terminal to go home. His months in limbo provide the time for interesting adventures, like a romance with flight attendant Catherine Zeta-Jones.
