Jane (Frances McDormand) is a record producer who lives the high life in Hollywood with her rock-star boyfriend. They are drinking in the swimming pool when Alex (Kate Beckinsale), the unwrinkled girlfriend of Frances' straight-laced medical school son (Christian Bale), watches. At the invitation of the couple, she agrees to join them in the pool.
