World Cup 2006: German Patriotism

They hang from balconies, stick out of cars and some people are even wrapping themselves up in them. Shops across the country are full of hats, shirts, scarves and aprons in German red, black and gold. Fans are painting the flag on their arms, cheeks and foreheads. An estimated 700,000 fans partied at the Brandenburg Gate, turning the Berlin landmark into an ocean of black, red and gold flags while cheering Germany's 3-0 Group A victory over Ecuador.
