The boys (Emile Hirsch, Kieran Culkin) are grilled by Sister Assumpta (Jodie Foster) and Father Casey (Vincent D'Onofrio) about a missing church statue.

Youngsters Francis Doyle (Emile Hirsch) and Tim Sullivan (Kieran Culkin) are good buddies navigating puberty and Catholic school side-by-side. With two other friends, they funnel all their rebellious energy and fantasies bursting out of their brains into the comic book they're creating. Suddenly, their several real-life adventures take a fantastical twist, and life as they imagined it to be will never be the same.
