A Reuters clip that shows the aftermath of a bus that hit two claymore mines. The attack took place on an isolated road in Anuradhapura district some 200 km north of capital Colombo. Women and children were among the dead and injured. The separatist Tamil Tigers denied responsibility for the blast but the military responded to the incident by pounding their positions from the air. Tensions between the Sinhalese majority and Tamil Tiger separatists grew into civil war in the early eighties. A fragile ceasefire has been in place since 2002.
