Vicki has been abandoned by her boyfriend Charles. During the weeks of waiting for him in his apartment, she strikes up an email relationship with a woman who has been communicating with Charles and thinks Vicki is him. Their exchange of words and feelings brings them closer and closer together, until the lines between love and friendship become blurry, as do those which define identity, gender and sexual preference.
