Alan gets a ride with the weed-puffing driver of a hippie VW van. The two of them are nearly killed when a finny 60s Plymouth drives directly at them, and the van does a bunch of donuts and careens off the road in trying to avoid a head-on crash.

All Alan Parker (Jonathan Jackson) wants to do is visit his mother who is in the hospital after having a stroke. But it's a 100-mile journey and he doesn't have a car.

Hitchhiking down a dark highway on Halloween, Alan accepts a ride from a mysterious stranger (David Arquette) who may have insidious reasons for picking up his young passenger. In fact, the driver isnt even human and he's taking Alan on a ride to meet his destiny.
