Pearl Harbor Agitprop

Posted on: September 28, 2005 | Views: 227 | Comment

Various newsreels were quickly edited together in the aftermath of the attack on Pearl Harbor to emphasize Axis aggression against civilian victims: the Japanese bombing of China, The Blitz on London, The Spanish Civil War, execution of Chinese communists by Nationalist soldiers, French refugees, etc. While there is only one small clip from the Pearl Harbor attack -- a burning house at the end of the sequence -- the original purpose of this clip is believed to have been to agitate the U.S. public against the Japanese enemy.
