A Chinese-American woman is struggling with her career as a promising surgeon and her secret sexual identity. She is a lesbian and she knows that the traditional Chinese society in New York will never accept her if she comes out, especially her widowed mother. One day, Wil comes home to find her mother sitting on her doorstep. She is pregnant and has been cast out of community she lived in. Together the mother and daughter must learn to understand and accept each other's secret lives of passion.
