Surprise Makeover

I wrote this piece after watching a daytime talk show a few years ago. The show's theme was "Surprise Makeovers", and all of their guests were either battered women or prostitutes. It struck me that the producers and hosts were more interested in the details of the makeovers than the real-life plight of their guests.
