Shanghai is situated on the banks of the Yangtze River is China's largest city and one of the world's 10 largest cities with a population of around 20 million people including a migrant population of 3-4 million often called the "floating population" because of their constant migration to and from the Chinese countryside. Shanghai is a center of China's culture, economy, industry, and communications and features the world's busiest port in Shanghai in terms of cargo throughput.
