In 1974, Hearst was kidnapped by the radical Symbionese Liberation Army, a group of revolutionaries out to smash "the system." After being locked in a closet at the SLA's hideout for several weeks, she emerged as a brainwashed member of the organization and accompanied them on a daring bank robbery.
